WebMar 4, 2024 · Beginnings. Certina was founded by Swiss brothers Adolf and Alfred Kurth in Grenchen in 1888. The brand was first established as a watchmaking movement and supplies factory. 18 years later, in 1906, the company produced their first complete timepieces under the name Grana. WebFound this amazingly unique vintage watch. Didnt know the brand but the dial says "Grana" as brand sold at what appears to be German or Swiss retailer " Frere Kerth". The watch looks like new old stock, and came with the original box and warranty dated August, 1945! Watch runs great, high grade Swiss movement.

WebKurth Frères and Grana. Adolphe Kurth was established as a watchmaker in Grenchen in 1888. The company was renamed Kurth Frères in 1894 as his brother Alfred Kurth (1865-1937) joined the firm. Even at this early point in its history the company specialized in watches for women from 10 to 14 lignes and exported their products internationally. WebGrana split seconds chronographs were made in very small numbers, few have ever appeared at auction and of those, the present watch is one of the most appealing. The superb gloss black luminous dial with tachymeter shows no signs of cosmetic enhancement. The case displays the honest signs of use over the last almost 80 years.
