SpletAdditionally, the melanocortin system is an important mediator of the leptin- and insulin-induced forms of hypertension. Of great clinical importance is also the role of MC3R activation in preventing ventricular tachycardia and fibrillation in myocardial ischemia, as well as MC4R agonism for the treatment and recovery from cerebral ischemia.
