The overkill hypothesis
WebbThe overkill hypothesis argues that humans were responsible for the Late Pleistocene extinction of megafauna in northern Eurasia and North and South America. Paul Martin of the University of Arizona and others see a chronological and causal link between the appearance of humans and the disappearance of many species of large mammals. WebbThe average number of wounds suffered by the victim was 4.02, with 34.86% suffering from wounds to multiple body locations, and 21.62% suffering from more than four wounds or “overkill.” In the majority of cases, the weapon used to kill the victim was a firearm (58.82%), followed by a sharp instrument (15.92%).
